92-94 / 100 Robert Parker
The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Cazetiers was raised in second use barrels. It has a very intense bouquet raspberry and wild strawberry scented bouquet that is well-defined, perhaps even a little rustic in style. The palate is medium-bodied with firm and quite masculine tannins. There is plenty of candied red fruit, a palpable sense of solidity and breeding here, but in tandem with finesse. The finish has a drawn out saline element with just the right amount of dryness to urge another sip.

50-year-old vines – their oldest. A bit less expressive on the nose but with absoutely devastating charm in terms of fruit on the palate and then it closes up a bit on the end. Needs a bit of time.

90-92 / 100 Allen Meadow
This is very Gevrey in basic character with plenty of animale nuances to the intensely earthy nose that offers up red currant and dark pinot scents. The mouth feel of the robust and sleekly muscular medium weight flavors is firm and intense, all wrapped in a mineral-driven and beautifully persistent finish. I like the balance though note that moderate patience will be required.
