86 / 100 Robert Parker I remember how stunning the 1979 Petrus was from cask, but it has never lived up to its early potential. Even from an Imperial, the 1979 Petrus is a lean, compact, tannic, hard, austere wine lacking the richness and charm of the vintage's top Pomerols. The color was a healthy medium ruby. While the wine does not possess the vegetal overtones of the 1978, it leaves a great deal to be desired. Wine Advocate #103 Feb 1996
