It remains fresh, and powerful, and possesses a firm, tannic backbone. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2006.

Dark-colored, lush and thick, with violet and currant flavors that fan out impressivlely on the mid-palate. Delivers a great deal of elegance, but it ends with a bang, with a lot of chewy and rather hard tannins. But there is enough fruit to expect a good future here. Try after 2000.

Stunningly beautiful nose offering a cornucopia of Vosne spice and exquisite red pinot fruit with flavors that offer good depth but are surprisingly supple. While the tannins are not completely resolved, this is certainly more advanced than I would have expected. No matter, this is still a terrific effort for the vintage and in particular, shows outstanding balance.
