The 1988 is deep in color, with a moderately intense bouquet of herbs, smoke, and blackcurrants. The hardness it revealed when it was young has melted away, and at present, a rich, creamy texture offers up considerable roasted fruit flavors complemented by lavish amounts of oak.

Very ripe forest fruits, with cèpe and other mushrooms. A little reserved. Turns to currant with air. Full-bodied, with a solid core of fruit and big, velvety tannins.
