The 1998 Le Pergole Torte offers strong floral notes and evident notes of oxidation. This vintage is not as full or generous as the 1997 expression. But it does show a graceful and silky disposition with rose hip and dried violets. This was a cool growing season that produced a compact and thinly textured mouthfeel as a result. If you have a bottle, I would not suggest waiting much longer. The 1998 vintage is nearing the end of its drinking window.

Very pretty aromas of plums, dried cherries and berries, with hints of porcini. Medium-bodied, with tight, well-integrated tannins and a smooth, concentrated palate. A beauty. Sangiovese. Best after 2003. 2,000 cases made.
