Pavillon used to represent a third of the total production. All the plots that provided this wine now go into the third and fourth wine at Ch Margaux. 'We now produce 40 hl/ha rather than 60, because of pruning and global warming.' At the time it was considered a very tannic vintage. They double decanted a large format a day in advance. Blackish ruby, pale rusty rim. Sweet and round and perfumed – classic Margaux nose but far from intense. Marked acidity. Relatively light bodied. Fruit far from intense. Fresh and clean on the end. Light and pretty.
